If you’ve ever wanted to see famous filming locations firsthand then now’s your chance with the Gold Coast Film Festival! Returning for its 16th annual event, the Gold Coast Film Festival is the biggest celebration of film in the region, bringing a huge lineup of film-related events to Queensland’s favourite beach destination. Over the last few decades the Gold Coast has become a favourite filming location for both international blockbusters as well as successful Australian movies, and at the Gold Coast Film Festival you can celebrate this history and see the famous filming locations for yourself!

A number of film-related events will take over the Gold Coast in April to celebrate the 16th annual Gold Coast Film Festival. These include outdoor movies under the stars, the Gold Coast Movie Locations Tour, Sipfest, Women in Film Lunch, Music and Movie Trivia, and lots more that’s yet to be announced. Explore four key movie locations that have been featured in over twenty movies including Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island, San Andreas, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more with the Gold Coast Movie Locations Tour. At the Women in Film Lunch, celebrate a fantastic history of women in film whilst enjoying a tempting 3-hour drink and food buffet at the QT Ballroom in Surfers Paradise. Also at the QT, don’t miss the Music and Movie Trivia, where teams of up to six can show off their movie knowledge and win a number of prizes!

SIPFEST on Surfers Paradise Beach is an annual favourite during the Gold Coast Film Festival, which showcases the best movie shorts in the country under the stars and next to the ocean. For filmmakers and film fanatics this is an incredible experience that shares a love for film as well as inspiring ideas alongside great talent. More movies under the stars will be taking place at Giltrap Park in Kirra, where the 16th Gold Coast Film Festival will be celebrating dance in film. 1992 favourite Strictly Ballroom and the animated 2006 Happy Feet will be shown on two starry evenings – just bring a blanket or chair!
